1. Pareto Principle (80/20 rule)

    Vilfredo Pareto, an Italian economist, gave us the highly productive Pareto principle. The Pareto principle is also called the 80/20 rule.

    The Pareto principle states that 80 % of your success or results come from 20 % of your actions. If you focus on 20% of your high-priority tasks, you will get 80% of the results you desire.

    So you don’t need to work hard, but to work smart. It works for personal growth, marketing, business, and almost every field of life.

    2. Pomodoro technique

    The Pomodoro technique is the right choice for people who get easily distracted. It was developed by Francesco Cirillo.

    In this technique, you work for 25 minutes with full concentration, and after 25 minutes, you take a 5-minute break. You can grab a cup of coffee or take a 5-minute walk. And then you repeat the process. After completing 4 cycles, you get a long break of approximately 15 minutes.

    This technique improves your focus, enhances productivity, and avoids burnout. This technique is a problem solver for procrastinators.

    3. Eisenhower Matrix

    The Eisenhower matrix helps you to prioritize tasks based on their importance and urgency.

    In this technique, you draw four quadrants or boxes and name them as important and urgent, important but not urgent, urgent but not important, and not important or urgent.

    For higher productivity, you should focus on two quadrants: important and urgent, and important but not urgent. As for the third, you should delegate. And for the fourth one, just delete those or don’t do them.

    4. Parkinson’s law

    Parkinson’s law states that work will expand to the time you’ll give it to complete. In other words, any specific task takes the same amount of time that you give it to complete.

    For example, you have to submit your assignment in two weeks. You know it will hardly take you 4–5 days to complete. You can research and outline your assignment in the first two days and finish your writing process in the last two days.

    You can then review your assignment, and you are ready to submit your assignment. But you are given 2 weeks, so you delay your work.

    By following Parkinson’s law, you give yourself a shorter time than required to complete a task. This technique will make you more productive and will help you to meet your deadlines.

    5. Time Blocking Method

    In the time blocking method, you designate time blocks for some specific tasks. These include deep work, meetings, personal growth time, and you can even dedicate specific time slots to your family.

    The time blocking method helps you to avoid distractions and get the most out of your day. You can master your schedule if you master this method.

    6. Getting Things Done Method

    The Getting Things Done framework was given by David Allen. This method ensures that each task is completed and nothing important is left.

    It begins by writing all of your tasks on paper and then finding which tasks require action. You then organize your tasks according to your priority and then execute your tasks.

    If you often feel overwhelmed because of a full plate, then this method can help you. This method improves your focus and reduces your stress.

    7. Rapid Planning Method or RPM

    Tony Robbins gave a strategic approach for time management known as the rapid planning method(RPM). Its acronym, RPM, also means result, purpose, and massive action plan.

    This technique helps you to focus on what matters instead of wasting time on lengthy to-do lists that never get completed.

    It makes you work on the result ( what do you want to achieve by that particular task), purpose ( why this task matters), and massive action plan ( How you are going to achieve it).

    This method ensures that you’re ticking the right things on your list rather than being busy all day and achieving nothing or just a little of it.

    8. Pickle Jar Theory

    Pickle jar theory is a powerful way of planning your day. If your time is managing you, then this theory will help you manage your time.

    With this theory, you imagine your day as a jar. Now it is up to you how you are going to fill your jar.

    Rock stands for the important tasks that need your immediate attention. Pebbles symbolize less important tasks that you can delegate to another day or tomorrow. Whereas sand represents not unimportant tasks.

    So, if you fill your jar with sand first, there will be no room for rocks and pebbles. But if you put the rocks in first, then you might be able to add some pebbles and fill it with sand also. This method helps you in prioritizing tasks as well.

    9. Eat That Frog Technique

    Brian Tracy introduced this technique of eating the frog technique for time management. The frog is your most important and toughest task of the day. If you eat this frog first in the morning, it will enhance your productivity and remove the obstacle that stresses you out and makes you procrastinate.

    You may have more than one fro,g which means that there is more than one important task. In this case, eat the biggest and hardest frog. It will give you a sense of achievement and give you momentum for the rest of your day.

    10. Flowtime Technique

    The flowtime technique lets you manage your time with freedom. If techniques with timers like Pomodoro don’t work for you, then this technique will work for sure.

    It allows you to focus deeply on your task without any timer buzz till you feel that your concentration is fading away. You can have intervals that match your working periods. You can track your peak hours of productivity with this method of time management.
