Tensions Escalate as Pakistan Warns of Imminent Indian Strike

-

Pakistan has issued a stringent warning stating that it possesses “credible intelligence” suggesting India plans a military operation in the next 24 to 36 hours. This statement is a significant escalation after the recent Indian-operated assault in Kashmir, where 26 civilians lost their lives. Pakistan Information Minister Attaullah Tarar’s statement marks this shift.

Tarar accused India of “military adventurism” and using the attack on Kashmir as a false pretext to justify their actions. He further added that any aggressive move would be responded to assuredly and decisively.

The warning comes after growing aggression due to the shooting close to Pahalgam, which is a well-known tourist location. That attack marked the deadliest civilian casualty in the region in over two decades. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, however, Indian officials allege that the culprits were linked to Pakistan. Islamabad has denied any involvement.

Pakistani officials have made this claim without a response from India. The Indian foreign affairs department has not provided any official statements either.

Mounting Pressure After Kashmir Attack

Indian security forces have increased operations throughout Kashmir following the shooting. More than 1,500 people have been detained for questioning, and at least ten homes presumed to belong to militants have been destroyed. Two of the alleged shooters, who are purported to be Pakistani nationals, have been recognized by authorities, while the third remains undisclosed.

Although initial claims connected the attack with an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba called The Resistance Front, the organization later insisted it did not partake in the shooting.

During public protests in India, it was reported that the assailants deliberately targeted Hindu males, which further intensified the already existing rage. Modi assured that India will retaliate viciously and swiftly.

“Those who carried out this attack and those who planned it will be punished beyond their imagination,”

he said.

“We will find them — even to the ends of the earth.”

Between these two nuclear nations, Kashmir has been a continuous source of conflict. India and Pakistan have engaged in two wars over Kashmir since 1947, and the current increase in hostilities has sparked fears for yet another war.

While both sides remain quiet on the diplomatic front and continue shooting at each other across the Line of Control, these were the only two prerequisites needed to shift from rhetoric to action.
