WWE Releases 16 Superstars in Major Post-WrestleMania Roster Shake-Up

In a significant roster overhaul following WrestleMania, WWE has released 16 superstars from both its main roster and NXT brand. The cuts, announced on May 2, 2025, include former champions and rising talents, signaling a strategic shift within the organization.

Notable Main Roster Departures

Among the most prominent names released is Braun Strowman, a former Universal and Intercontinental Champion. Strowman’s second tenure with WWE ends after rejoining the company in 2022.

Shayna Baszler, known for her dominant reign as NXT Women’s Champion and multiple Women’s Tag Team Championship wins, has also been let go. Baszler responded to her release on social media, stating,

“No one can offer what I have to offer. Reality. Let the Galaxy burn.”

Dakota Kai, a key member of the Damage CTRL faction and former tag team champion, is another significant departure.

Additional main roster releases include Kayden Carter and Katana Chance, both former Women’s Tag Team Champions.

NXT Talent Released

The following NXT superstars have been released:

  • Cora Jade: Once considered a rising star in the women’s division.
  • Gigi Dolin: Former member of Toxic Attraction.
  • Eddy Thorpe, Jakara Jackson, Riley Osborne, Oro Mensah, Javier Bernal: Up-and-coming talents with varying degrees of exposure on NXT programming.
  • Additionally, the trio Gallus, comprising Joe Coffey, Mark Coffey, and Wolfgang, has been released. Gallus had notable runs in NXT UK and NXT, including holding the NXT Tag Team Championships.
